Bernadette Dezzara (born on February 28, 1948, in Ozone Park Queens New York) is an acclaimed American actor, singer, and author of children's tales. Her professional career spans over five decades and includes musical theatre, television, solo concerts, and recording. She's received seven Tony Awards nominations, two of which she was awarded along with eight Drama Desk Awards. Peters has been awarded Grammy Awards for four of her Broadway recordings of cast. Peters first performed on stage in her early years, then as an actress in her teenage years during the 1960s, and later in films and television in the 1970s. Her early stage performances as well for her television performances, which included The Carol Burnett Show The Muppet Show as well as Annie. In the 80s, her return to theater made her one of the most well-known Broadway stars for over three decades. Peters has also recorded seven solo albums, and a number of singles, in addition to many cast albums, and frequently performs in her own solo act.
