Amanda Brugel

(February 27th of 2010 to Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on this part of the island of Montreal called the West Island. It is a bit of a mystery as the West Island can be confusing to those unfamiliar to its significance. Many people believe that it's an island located west of Montreal, but it's actually the West Island encompasses everything between the two cities that are Lachine as well as West. Amanda Brugel was born there and her time was not long in the city. Brugel lived in Courtice close to Oshawa Ontario. She wanted to become a professional dancer, but due to an explosive increase in her height, she outgrew every dance partner she met. In an article published by The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall and wears heels. When I grew out of male companions and gave up, I decided to give up. A lot of former dancers go on to act. For Brugel it was the guidance by her drama instructor at her high school which pushed her to take the step she needed. She was a teacher at the time who advised her to go after a role in the annual school production. She was chosen to play the lead character for Anne of Green Gables after she tried out. Following her award of the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. Through the years since Brugel has landed roles on more than 60 productions on both small and large screens, attracting the greatest attention when she landed the role of Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was only seen on a few occasions in the first season of The Handmaid's Tale. She was the only Canadian actor.
